About the Marathon Des Sables
The MdS is a 6 day / 230km endurance race across the Sahara Desert in Morocco, normally taking place at the end of March / beginning of April.
During this time the competitors (myself included!) have to carry all food, cooking equipment, survival equipment, etc over ground ranging from sand dunes to uneven rocky ground in temperatures upto 120°F.
Why I'm running the Marathon des Sables

Cousin Sean, on the left, promises
a similar table-full after the Sahara!
Hi Folks,
I'm running through the Sahara for Temple Street Children's University Hospital. Established in 1872, it is one of the leading educators of paediatric nurses in Ireland and provides medical training for doctors at both undergraduate and post graduate level.
Over 140,000 children attended the hospital last year. This included more than 50,000 children to the Accident and Emergency Department; one of the busiest paediatric emergency units in Europe.
All assistance you can muster would be greatly appreciated:
